DeeEl is a play on DL given to me by a dear writer friend of mine in France. His kindness and work have been inspirational to me in the furtherance and honing of my talent and skills.
I began writing poetry when I was 13 years old in junior high school. I was painfully shy and then my English teacher began a segment on poetry. We learned meter and how to write stanzas and haiku. I didn’t really like haiku, but I found that while my voice didn’t seem to work my pen did. It allowed me to put my heart into the words I played with. With encouragement from my grandmother and a few others, I kept at it.
If you take the time to get to know me, you will find I do not wear my heart on my sleeve. It has been hurt far too many times from birth till now. I keep it locked away in a fortress. However, it can still be seen in my writing and in the way I care about those close to me. If you really want to know my heart, read my words.
For now, until you are amongst my intimates, enjoy my heart written out.
